CLOTHES AID FOR THE NEEDY - (Article appeared in Dandenong Leader newspaper) (corrected and edited).
Ex Servicemen who fought in Korea and Vietnam came together last week to present donated clothing from the Veterans Op
Shop and Drop-In Centre in Erica Avenue, Boronia, to some of the needy resident's of Casey.
The donation was made through the auspices of John (Nobby) Clarke, who was in attendance. Mr Clarke is a member of both
the Korea Veterans Association and RAASC Vietnam Veterans Assoc. John donates part of his time to helping out in the
Veterans Op Shop and Drop-In Centre in Boronia. He also performs regularly at the open stage nights run by the Eastern
Region Mental Health Association (ERMHA) on Mondays at the John Pandazopoulos Hall in Doveton.
There were two representatives from the Vietnam Veterans Assoc. Mr and Mrs Van Maanenberg. Mr Van Maanenberg is
also the Manager of the Boronia Op Shop. The Korea Veterans were represented by Mr & Mrs Murray. Mr Alan Murray
is the publicity officer of Korea Vets Assoc. and Mr & Mrs Gillman. Mr Gillman of Blue Lion Supplies (member of the KVA)
also donated footwear and clothing.

The Boronia Op Shop and Drop-in Centre welcomes veterans from all services who might like to browse in the Op Shop and
have a coffee and chat in the Drop-In Centre. The Op-Shop/Drop-in Centre helps to assist all veterans who may be in need.
There is also a veterans pensions office located at the Op Shop.
The open stage nights at the ERMHA are also a big success. Everyone pays a $2 entrance fee for a hot meal, tea and coffee
and entertainment by singers, rap artists, poets and comedians. All food and beverages are donated by local businesses in
Dandenong and money raised goes back to ERMHA.
